Halloween Action
Action got underway in the First Annual Mercer Street Ping Pong Invitational Classic. The first round-robin group got underway and there was some intense action in the six matches.
The first group is made up of Dan "Eric" Sirkin, Eric "Pollex" Rasmussen, Liron "The Shekel" Brish, and Ian "Mile-High" Samuel. Dan was the big winner in round robin play, winning all three matches without losing a game. Eric came out with a 2-1 record, Brishie managed to beat Mile-High for a 1-2 record and Mile-High had a bit of trouble acclimating to the Mercer Street atmosphere, coming up empty in round-robin play.
Highlights: Mr. Brish's Yankee-Like tendency to choke. Up 20-15 in the second game to Mr. Siskin, he had 5 chances to serve out the game and even the match at 1-1. Unfortunately, Mr. Siskin's efficient moves and wily ways served him well as he swept the jew match. (is that offensive? I don't think so. Let me know). In a strange anomaly tonight, not one match went to a full three games--momentum was key.
Mile-high was the big loser tonight, but he showed a lot of pizzazz and panache, among other big words, in his 3 losses--he will certainly be one to watch for the upcoming tournament.
Recap:
Siskin: 3-0
Rasmusen: 2-1
Brish: 1-2
Samuel: 0-3
